    after jane walks out of the present's ofi ce, sh begins to shout at sophie angrily.

    jane: don't pretend anymore. i know it was you who made trouble for me. have you heard that i'm losing my manager position?

    sophie: are you? i didn't hear that.

    蘇菲：是嗎？我還不知道。

    jane: if you weren't so devious, i would have held all the trump cards for this bidding,and i wouldn't be demoted.

    簡：要不是你做了手腳，這次競標我勢在必得，也不會被撤職。

    sophie: what? you mean it's me that caused your failure? do you have any proof? if not, that is venomous slander.

    蘇菲：什么？你的意思是是因為我你才競標失敗的？你有證據嗎？如果沒有，那就是惡毒的污蔑。

    jane: proof? look at these photos and tell me that's not you. you gave away our pany's secrets to our petitor in order to defeat me.

    簡：證據是嗎？你看看這些照片上是不是你，你為了打敗我，竟然向我們的競爭對手泄露消息。

    sophie: that's impossible. how did you get these pictures?

    蘇菲：不可能，你怎么會有這些照片？

    jane: well, the day has eyes, the night has ears. i 't imagine what our boss will think if he sees these.

    my bad!

    表達歉意時，我們經常會用 my fault! my mistake!不過要是用my bad!（對不起）的話，首次接觸這種用法的人多少會感到有些新鮮。my bad! 用于非正式道歉的語境中，是對很熟的朋友說的，而且發生的事也不是很嚴重，比如是不小心踩了腳這樣的小事。據說，這種用法起源于籃球運動，在美國城市的貧民窟地帶使用尤為廣泛。當球員犯規或球出界后，往往會脫口而出 my bad!表示歉意。后來黑人青年把這個用法帶入了職業體育運動中。my bad!的用法是自從1995年的影片《獨領風sao》播映后才流行起來的。雖然近來 my bad! 不如90年代中期使用得那么頻繁了，不過在俚語（尤其是在體育方面）中仍占有一席之地。而且人們在網上聊天時也經常使用。

    例如：

    my bad! i didn't mean to step on your foot, susan. you know there are so many people at the store today.

    tony and his team are busy with a plaly. when the plan is pleted, he gets one big problem. an atant has made some mistakes in drafting the budget. tony is very angry about that.

    最近托尼和他的團隊正在忙一份企劃。企劃案完成時，他遇到了一個大問題。一個會計預算時犯了幾個錯誤，托尼為此很生氣。

    tony: how did you e to be so careless,gordon? you are often ear in your work.and you also know the plan is very crucial to us.

    托尼：戈登，你怎么會這么粗心呢？你平時工作挺認真的呀。你也知道這份企劃對我們至關重要。

    gordon: i'm sorry about that. this is my mistake. i hope it didn't cause a big loss to us.

    戈登：對不起，這是我的失誤。我希望沒有對我們公司造成重大損失。

    tony: luckily i found it in advance.

    托尼：幸虧發現得早。

    gordon: thank goodness. even a little mistake in the budget  ruin the whole plan. then how do we deal with the plan?

    戈登：謝天謝地。預算即使是出現了小誤差也可能會斷送整個企劃。那么關于這個企劃我們該怎么做呢？

    tony: the budget will have to be redone.

    托尼：預算得重做。

    gordon: will the plan be postponed? oh, i must say that i am very much to blame.

    戈登：那企劃會推遲嗎? 哦，我必須說都是我的錯。

    tony: you deserve to be called on this. but now it is not good time to ascertaihe responsibility lies. we must make the best use of our time to redo the budget. ok, get a wiggle o to finish the plan on time.

    gordon: this time i promise to do my work without any mistakes.

    manager: ok, let's get started. steven,we'll begin with reports on the school. is everything going smoothly?

    經理：好了，開始吧。史蒂文，我們先來看看學校的工程。一切都還順利吧？

    steven: i'm afraid there'll be a delay of one week.

    史蒂文：恐怕得要一星期才能完成。

    manager: what's holding things up?

    經理：是什么給耽誤的？

    steven: actually, it is all my fault. we are short-ha work because many of the workers have left. and i still havn't hired enough hands now.

    史蒂文：事實上，都是我的錯。因為很多工人都辭工了，我們人手不夠。直到現在我還沒有招到足夠的人手。

    manager: well, what have you doo solve the problem? are the workers w overtime?

    steven: yeah, they've been w overtime for a month. and i also put a want advertisement in the neer, but i haven't got any replies so far.

    manager: okay. tell the workers we have to work overtime for one more week. we must bow to time.

    julia: the manager is not ameo reason! he flared up at me, making a mountain out of molehill!

    jane: what's the “molehill” he made a mountain out of?

    簡：什么小事？

    julia: i spilled his coffee just now, but i certainly didn't do it on purpose. i didn't think it was any big deal, but he still blew up at me after i had apologized to him.

    朱莉亞：我剛剛打翻了他的咖啡，但是我絕對不是故意的。沒什么大不了的，我已經道過歉了，他還對我發火。

    jane: well, he has been under a lot of pressure retly. the pany suffered from a failure in the iment and he's been a little bit depressed.

    julia: well, i know he is in a bad mood, but it doesn't mean he  vent his anger on me.
